Body Height and Its Estimation Utilizing Arm Span Measurements in Serbian Adults International Journal of Morphology
Popovic,Stevo; Bjelica,Dusko; Molnar,Slavko; Jaksic,Damjan; Akpinar,Selcuk.
Anthropologists recognized the tallness of nations in the Dinaric Alps long time ago. As the modern Serbians fall more into the Dinaric racial classification than any other does, the purpose of this study was to examine the body height in Serbian adults as well as the relationship between arm span as an alternative to estimating the body height, which vary in different ethnic and racial groups. The nature and scope of this study analyzes 394 students (318 men, aged 20.13±1.47 and 76 women, aged 19.59±1.46) from the University of Novi Sad to be subjects. The anthropometric measurements were taken according to the protocol of the ISAK. Means and standard deviations were obtained. A comparison of means of body heights and arm spans within each gender group...

Combined effect of short stature and socioeconomic status on body mass index and weight gain during reproductive age in Brazilian women BJMBR
Sichieri,R.; Silva,C.V.C.; Moura,A.S..
Short stature, a marker for undernutrition early in life, has been associated with obesity in Brazilian women, but not in men. We tested the hypothesis that weight gain during the reproductive years could explain this gender difference. A national two-stage household survey of mothers with one or more children under five years of age was conducted in Brazil in 1996. The subjects were women aged 20 to 45 years (N = 2297), with last delivery seven months or more prior to the interview. The regions of the country were divided into rural, North/Northeast (urban underdeveloped) and South/Southeast/Midwest (urban developed). The dependent variables were current body mass index (BMI) measured, BMI prior to childbearing (reported), and BMI change. Socioeconomic...

On the Prediction of Personal Stature from Cranial Dimensions International Journal of Morphology
Ilayperuma,Isurani.
Dimensional relationship between body segments and stature has been the focus of scientists for many years. All such studies were based on the fact that body segments exhibit consistent ratios relative to the stature and these ratios are linked to age, gender and race. Racial characters are best defined in the skull. Therefore, prediction of stature from cranial remains is vital in establishing the identity of an unknown individual. Despite its significance, little is known concerning the cranial dimensions in Sri Lankans. Hence, this study was designed to investigate the relationship and to propose a gender and age specific linear regression model between the cranial dimensions and height of an individual. A total of 400 subjects with an age span of 20-23...

Prediction of Stature According to Three Head Measurements International Journal of Morphology
Rexhepi,Agron M; Brestovci,Behlul.
Morphometry is a non-invasive method important to assess the size, proportions, and composition of the human body. Because the prediction is an important subject in almost all life sciences, the aim of this research was to find out the cephalofacial variables that may predict the body height. Three cephalofacial variables and the body height were measured on 288 adult male subjects of the Kosovo Albanian population, aged 1835 years old. Using the procedures of regressive analysis we found that cephalofacial variables: head height, head circumferences, face height, significantly may predict body height, and in this way we derived the specific regression equation for estimation of the body height, based on these cephalofacial variables. The predicted body...
